We delivered a striking coastal home on one of Lorne’s most technically challenging sites, overcoming steep terrain, rock excavation and limited access to realise an ambitious architectural vision in concrete, timber and steel.

Beachside Residence

    • Client Challenge: This stunning site situated on the point at Lorne came with serious complications: a steep slope necessitating a retaining wall, extensive rock excavation, and poor access for heavy vehicles. The client envisioned an ambitious design entailing a unique blend of warm timber alongside a monolithic feel expressed through raw concrete and steel. Most builders would walk away from the site’s technical difficulty alone.

    • Our Solution: We drew on our most experienced construction leaders—assigning a veteran foreman and a trusted crew capable of executing careful architectural detailing under unforgiving conditions. We managed complex material logistics, coordinated difficult concrete pours, and navigated the weather, terrain, and access issues to bring the project to life.

    • Result: The result is an exceptional coastal home with timeless design, beautifully executed concrete and timber detailing, and a retained sense of calm despite the complexity behind the scenes. It has joined the cohort of statement architecture that is part of the stunning experience of driving the Great Ocean Road.
