Client Challenge: The family living in this home in Ballarat’s most prestigious and heritage-protected neighbourhood wanted to do an ambitious renovation, but understood the requirement to keep the facade unchanged and maintain the Edwardian charm of the original building.

Our Solution: We retained the entire heritage street-facing facade while completing a full internal and rear rebuild. Every step was taken with care-consulting heritage advisors, restoring original details, and introducing contemporary extensions. One chimney needed to be dismantled, the bricks numbered and rebuilt in exactly the same way. Furthermore, to achieve the highest quality timber floor possible, we brought in one of our most senior foremen to oversee this aspect in meticulous detail.

Result: The result is a beautifully resolved family home that honours its past while welcoming the future. An exquisite timber floor and a chimney in the right place adding to the aesthetic of the historical facade. This home is a balance of old and new, delivered with precision, ambition and respect.
